Toba DM is an excellent ophthalmic solution that is recommended for the treatment and prevention of bacterial infections of the eyes. It also used to treat inflammation associated with bacterial infections of the eye. Toba DM encloses two generic drugs known as Tobramycin and Dexamethasone.

Action Mechanism Of Toba DM:

Tobramycin belongs to the class of medicines Aminoglycosides. It binds to the binding sites on the 30S ribosomal subunit that inhibits the bacterial protein synthesis. Thus, the inhibition of bacterial protein prevents the growth of bacteria. Dexamethasone belongs to the class of drugs called corticosteroids. It blocks the function of mediators of the inflammatory response and suppresses humoral immune responses that cause a reduction in inflammation.

Dosing Schedule Of Toba DM:

Toba DM eye drop is commercially accessible in two dosing strengths of 1mg and 3mg. To administer this medicine, you should tilt your head back and pull your lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Instill 1 or 2 drops of Toba DM eye drop into the conjunctival sac(s) of the infected eyes every 4 to 6 hours. Instantly apply pressure to the inside corner of the eyelid for 1 to 2 minutes. If you are using another kind of eye therapy, then wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before using other medicines.

Contradictory Conditions For The Use Of Toba DM:

  • If you are hypersensitive to Toba DM eye drop or its other components, then do not use this medicine.
  • Do not use Toba DM eye drop to treat mycobacterium, fungal, or viral infection of the eyes.

Annoying Effects Of Toba DM:

A person may face some annoying effects while relying on the treatment of Toba DM eye drops such as eye redness, eye discomfort, alteration in vision, and itching or swelling of the eyelids.

Precautionary Steps To Be Followed While Using Toba DM:

  • The use of Toba DM may cause blurred vision, so do not drive a vehicle or execute any risky tasks after using this medicine.
  • Long-term or repeated use of this eye drop may cause a second infection, so do not use this medicine for a longer duration.
  • Toba DM should be used with extreme caution in children younger than two years old, as safety and efficiency in these children have not been established.
  • If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, then do not use Toba DM without consulting your doctor.
